Drain unblocking

Focus Your Time and Efforts on Running Your Business and Leave the Drain Unlocking for us

All that goes through your drain travel a long distance before getting into the wastewater treatment plant. When solid organic matters are flushed down the toilet or sink, they tend to block your drain within your property or down the network, bringing considerable maintenance and repair costs.

Case study

We recently undertook a drain unblocking using the rodding approach. The drain diameter has been reduced to less than 20mm by organic matters, solidified oils, and fats pushed through the sink. It had become worse to the point that when residents operated washing machines, the outlet’s water returned into the kitchen through the sink.

We encourage that fats and oil should not be flushed through the drain with cold water as this will cause them to settle in the drain and gutter, effectively blocking the channel in due time. If you have no other alternative to dispose of such waste, ensure you run hot water for some minutes before and after to ensure that fatty residues are pushed through the waste pipes.

Below are some reasons why drains get blocked.

1. Pipes may be too small. If your drain is too tiny, organic waste and debris can build up over time, resulting in blockage. 2. Misuse of Drain: Many people misuse their drains disposing of oil, grease, hair, soap scum, tissue paper and even napkins. We come across these during the wastewater treatment process, and many resources are spent on screening before treatment. 3. Pipe Corrosion or damaged pipes will reduce the passage of wastewater over a period. Hence there is a need to check them annually. We have knowledge and expertise in unblocking drains, whether rodding or jetting.

Recommendations

Experts have recommended that you get your drains cleaned out every couple of years. For instance, we service our boilers yearly rather than wait until it breaks down. Consider cleaning your drains likewise without waiting till it gets blocked. We will help you remove any potential obstructions or build-up of residue or debris that can cause blockages during regular or annual maintenance. This is a cheaper and considered best practice that saves everyone the headache of emergencies. We will charge a fee of £59.99 only to check and ensure your drains (from the sink to the maintenance hole chamber) is free of debris or substances that can instruct the free flow of liquid waste. If there is the need to change any underground pipes, it may be at an extra cost which we will agree to before commencing the work.
